Dont Practice Your Casting While Trout Fishing

Practicing your casting while on the water fishing is not a good idea. There is way to much going on when your out on the water trout fishing to really concentrate on your technique. Besides all the distractions if your casting is not up to par you may be spooking trout instead of catching them.

If you practice your casting away from the water you eliminate all the other thoughts going through your mind while fishing like, where are the trout, what am I wading into, do I have enough line out and so on. All of these thoughts take away from the concentration you need to better your casting skills.

What you need to do is find a large open lot or lawn that is clear of obstructions, practice there before hitting the stream. By doing so you will be focused on just one thing, your casting, which is what you want and need to hone your casting skills.

To practice roll casting you really need water, so find a body of water that you can practice your roll cast in without having to worry about fishing. If there are fish in the water your practicing your roll cast in chances are your casting practice is going to quickly turn into a fishing venture.

Id recommend practicing your casting for no more than an hour per session, anything longer than this and your going to start getting fatigued. Once you’ve become fatigued your concentration is no longer on your casting.

As most of you already know your cast is everything when fishing for trout, make sure you practice and make sure you do it often without distraction. You will in time find that your efforts will pay off with baskets full of trout!
