Trout Fishing Is For Everyone!

One of the things that makes trout fishing such a great outdoor activity is that anyone can do it. Trout fishing doesn’t require a fancy fishing boat, or expensive gadgets like fish and depth finders, in fact anyone can start trout fishing for less than $50.00, you may even be able to cut that figure in half if you’r a smart shopper.

You don’t need all the latest and greatest equipment to catch trout, just the basics like an ultra light rod and reel, some hooks and sinkers and finally some worms or grubs youve dug out of your garden. With those simple tools alone you can have a great time trout fishing, while catching allot of fish.

There’s no need to be left out, or feel that you cant afford to get in on the game. You can do just as well as the guy sporting that $800 fly rod and thousands of dollars worth of fishing gear. Trust me on this one, you can! Young and old, rich and poor, trout fishing is for everyone!

You don’t even need to know a whole bunch about trout and how they operate, trout fishing is not that difficult. Some basic knowledge and fishing gear will go a long, long way.

Here are a few tips for those of you that are just beginning, or are fishing with just the basics.

Fish with live baits (worms, grubs, helgramites)
Walk softly, trout spook easily so tread lightly!
use light line, I don’t recommend more than 4lb test for most trout fishing situations, 6lb at the very most!
The afternoon seems to be best for trout fishing during the spring, morning hours or dusk for mid summer trout fishing.
learn to make accurate casts, so not to spook the trout your trying to catch
concentrate on eddies and cuts in stream and river banks, also make casts behind large rocks and other obstructions

Its really that simple and easy enough and affordable enough for anyone to do, just remember light equipment, light foot, natural bait!

Good luck and I hope to hear from you and your first trout fishing adventures.

Very good article and great advice. It certainly is a sport that can be done on a budget. I like especially your advice about walking softly. So many times I’ve seen fishermen stomp up to a fishing hole and then tell me there’s nothing in it.

Trout also have a very keen sense of sight, and it’s easy to spook them by being too visible. My Dad taught me to leterally sneak up on a trout stream in much the same way you might stalk a deer. It works!

    Thank you for the compliment.

Your right about that, my father taught me the same. If I am fishing a small native stream Ill literally be on my hands and knees crawling up to the hole, riffle or cut. I guess if your fishing a large resivoir it may be a little different, but trout fishing small streams and even medium sized rivers youve really got to pay attention to your approach. Theres no question about that.
